On Wednesday 17th April, the Annual Parents’ Association ‘Question & Answers’ evening took place in the school. This year’s theme was ‘The Rollercoaster Ride of the Teenage Years’ and we were very fortunate to hear two outstanding speakers. Professor Fiona McNicholas, Chair of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, addressed issues of significance during adolescent development and gave many useful and practical pointers for parents. Dr. Bobby Smyth (OC 1985), Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, spoke about the influence and potential dangers of alcohol and other drugs, particularly during adolescence. The evening was very well attended and we enjoyed excellent audience participation following the presentations.
The evening was superbly well organised by Emer Browne, Patricia Gilroy and Gina Gillespie and the feedback we received following the evening was that the presentations were highly informative and addressed many issues of concern and interest to parents. Many thanks to our speakers and to all who attended.
