This year, the Syntax Parent Day will take place on Sunday 18th October 2015 as indicated on the school calendar. We are very pleased to announce that Fr Peter McVerry S.J. will be the guest speaker. Fr McVerry (OC’62) is an Irish Jesuit who needs little introduction to many of us. He is a powerful voice especially as a champion of the plight of those on the margins of society, who are homeless and suffer various addictions.
Fr Peter is a most engaging and enlightening speaker; his perspective comes from years of personal experience working and living in inner city Dublin and Ballymun, and working day-today with people in desperate need of care. He will touch on aspects of his books The Meaning is in the Shadows and Jesus Social Revolutionary?
The day will begin at approximately 09.30 with tea and coffee and will end by 1.00pm. Your sons will be joining you for Fr McVerry’s talk and for Mass at 11.30am in the College Chapel, followed by lunch in the refectory. You will have an opportunity to watch the Ireland rugby match afterwards.
Please RSVP to Liz Griffin at firstname.lastname@example.org or 045 838294 before Wednesday 14th October
