The Clongowes Parents Association (PA) has been proactively supporting a variety of initiatives this year and has agreed to provide finance for a number of projects following recent consultation with the Prefects. These include funds to purchase equipment for the drama and music departments and to support school excursions for students staying in the school on Sundays.
The PA has also been actively involved in the organising of a variety of events both for parents and students. These include the annual Careers Morning which has proved to be invaluable for 6th year students featuring a number of high profile speakers from a variety of industries and businesses. They also organised a very well attended evening for parents and students last January with rugby legend and media personality Alan Quinlan, while they continue to organise the Elements BBQ and Lunch for incoming parents and students together with Union Day activities.
Susanna Cawley, outgoing Chairperson of the Clongowes Parents Association, commented
‘I would like to thank the school, all the parent body and most importantly this years committee for the hard work and support that has made to ensure all the activity possible and hoping that in our own small way we have made a difference for the boys.’
The Clongowes Parents’ Association
The primary function of the Clongowes Parents’ Association’s is to support and facilitate communication between the parents and the Headmaster on non-pupil specific matters. Two representatives from each year are elected annually at the AGM in September, and they may serve up to a three-year term. The group meets monthly and the Headmaster and a parent representative from the Board of Management also attend.
The Parents’ Association is involved with a number of activities during the year, such as:
- Assisting in careers talks and Third Level preparations for boys in Poetry and Rhetoric –
- Organising the hugely popular Q&A night for parents
- Providing family activities on Union Day
- Mulled Wine and Mince Pie reception before the Christmas concert
- Providing support to the families of incoming Elements
The Clongowes Parents Association extends a welcoming hand to the families of incoming Elements’ boys through a number of activities, such as:
- The Annual Elements’ BBQ for prospective families
- First Sunday Lunch for Elements’ Parents
- The ‘Buddy’ system to offer support and advice to families to Clongowes
The Clongowes Parents Association encourages all parents and guardians to engage with us. We have two representatives present in the school Concourse once a month. Please feel free to contact us by email at email@example.com
