“Boarding School, are you serious? That’s what some people said to me. Ignore them. I’m telling you now, some of the best days of your (son’s) life will be in those dorms.” – 6th Year Student
We warmly invite you to join our Open Morning, for boys and their parents interested in joining First Year (or Elements as it is known here at Clongowes) in late August 2023 and 2024. The Morning will give you a real insight into what boarding life is like here and is a great way to see what the school is like during a typical day. Please register via the form below.
The Open Day will consist of a range of activities for the boys and will be a chance for them to get a sense of life at Clongowes and all that it has to offer, including:
- Introduction from the Head
- Tour of the School and boarding dorms.
- Meet the staff
- Talk to current students
- Joining us for lunch in the school dining hall.
“When I visited Clongowes, I was blown away by the warm and homely atmosphere” – Parent.
Clongowes Wood College is Ireland’s only remaining 7-day boarding school for boys. Set in beautiful surroundings, thirty kilometres from Dublin in the heart of the Co. Kildare countryside, we are a Catholic school in the Jesuit tradition. Clongowes strives to support students in their growth towards a greater understanding and awareness of their faith and the part that this plays in their lives.
Clongowes is a home away from home for our community of 450 boys from Ireland and abroad, who we support to pursue their passions both at school and at home. Many boys visit home on Sundays after Mass, and we have extended weekend breaks every month where the boys go home, or to stay with Guardians in Ireland if their parents live overseas. Parents are welcome to drop in to visit their sons during the week, with Wednesdays and Saturdays afternoons busy with parents visiting to watch sports, and on Sundays as the boys can go home for the day after Mass. Families are encouraged to partake in the life of the school, in organising events, in attending mass every Sunday and in sports.
