Is Christ divided? - Clongowes Wood College

Posted: 31st January 2014

Last week on Sunday, January 19th Christians throughout the world came together to celebrate Christian Unity Week.  In what has become an annual tradition at Clongowes, we were blessed by the presence of some staff and students from The King’s Hospital School who joined us for our Sunday mass and spent the day in Clongowes.  A real highlight was the sermon which was delivered by Rev. Peter Campion of The King’s Hospital.  Peter gave a deeply moving and thought provoking homily, and stressed the unity that is shared by Christians, while also celebrating our differences.

On Sunday evening, Mr Tom Carroll along with Fr. Michael Sheil SJ, travelled to King’s Hospital to partake in their choral even song.  They were accompanied by 15 students from Syntax and Poetry who read the prayers for unity. Fr.Sheil preached a memorable homily and reminded the congregation of our common Christian commitment towards each other. Afterwards, all retired to the staffroom for refreshments, chat and to establish new friendships.

Special thanks go to our friends and visitors from The King’s Hospital who were accompanied by Mr. John Aiken, Deputy Headmaster, Rev.Peter Campion, Chaplain and Ms. Yvonne Duggan.
