As Autumn closes in and Summer weather gives way to crisp afternoons and frosty mornings we are handing the Duck Push batton over to Syntax 2021.

We want to thank everyone who supported us during this year’s fundraising drive for a covid testing machine. We thank our prefects and teachers, parents and guardians, students, friends, neighbours and Old Clongownians many of whom have pushed the Duck over the course of the last three decades.

While we had to put aside many of the plans we had in place including the much anticipated ‘ Cake for Crumlin ‘ morning, the annual ‘ Fun Run ‘, the ‘ Golf Classic’ and of course ultimately the ‘ Duck Push’ itself we still managed to raise a substantial sum of money for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital.

Many mini-companies got off the ground successfully providing Clongowes Christmas cards, Christmas crystal decorations, crested caps and rugby balls. We were able to provide Clongowes wine yet again and special thanks go to Mr Hugh Farrington for sponsoring this mini-company. We also managed to get in a number of bucket collections at the Aviva Stadium during terms one and two. Working together we raised €12,657.

In May we launched ‘Click-4-Crumlin‘ with the help and expertise of Mr Mike Wilson of Ditto TV. His team helped us make a pitch on go-fund-me and we are very grateful for the warm support of many well known OC’s who encouraged us all to dig a little deeper and ‘ Click 4 Crumlin’. While still in lockdown in May, 62 of us ran a 6.5km route around our cities, towns and villages to raise awareness of the cause.

The online campaign figure raised stands at €24,181 and there is still time to make your mark and help us to fund that covid machine for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin.

Our thanks also to the Parents Association of 2020 who made also made a much-appreciated contribution to the fund.

The overall total currently stands at €36,838 and we are accepting donations until the end of the midterm break.

If you haven’t already clicked for Crumlin we encourage you to do so here

Thank you again on behalf of Syntax / TY 2019-20.

Jeff Hemeryck, Shane McNulty, Senan Noone, Eoin O’Regan, Magnus Runham.
