‘The corner stone of Clongowes approach to care is expressed as cura personalis or care of the individual.’ Frank Kelly, Head of Boarding
The standard of care at the Clongowes is second to none and strives to allow each boy to develop in a warm and nurturing environment. Our unique prefecting system is at the heart of the support network for students. Each year group is guided by a prefect – an adult who is responsible for the overall care of the boys in his year. The close working relationships that are fostered between parents, students and prefects ensure good communication at all times.
There are a number of adults in Clongowes that boys can go to with any issue. These include his prefect, the school counsellor, the academic year head, subject teachers, a learning support teacher, the Spiritual Father and the school nurses who are always on hand to listen, offer advice and encourage.
The Spiritual Father provides support outside of the administrative structures of the school and is always on hand to offer a friendly ear and guidance to each student.
‘I am always on hand to help, advise and guide students – to be a companion on the road – an anam chara’.
