OC Bursary Fundraising Initiative | Clongowes Wood College

The OC Bursary Funding Initiative was pioneered by the OC’85 Year group who collectively pledged to raise 20k annually for 6 years to fund a bursary student through their time at Clongowes.  By taking this initiative the OC’85 Year group are leading the way to allow OC Year Groups to give their support to the Bursary programme.  To view the OC85 Bursary fundraising page please visit https://www.idonate.ie/fundraiser/CWCOC85Bursary

This new initiative allows a year of Old Clongownians to come together to support the Alberto Hurtado Bursary Programme.

Importantly it is a template that allows for:

  • flexibility, in that each past pupil can participate at a level and with a frequency that suits the individual;
  • anonymity, in that the names of donors are anonymised;
  • transparency, in that the donating year can see the individual donations and the running total at all times; and
  • tax efficiency, in that donations are worth 30% more when an Irish taxpayer donates more than €250 in a year and assigns the tax benefit to the Foundation.  Such an ambitious project comes with commensurate costs, the cost for each Bursary students is 140k over 6 years.  The Foundation at Clongowes supports the AHP on an annual basis via donations from past pupils, parents and the Jesuit Community.

The OC Fundraising Initiative is facilitated by the Clongowes Foundation.  Using idonate.ie as the platform for donations the Foundation will claim a tax refund on donations of €250 or more, per annum on behalf of the individual.  This refund can reduce the amount that any year needs to give by some 44%.

For more information on this initiative and support to set up the donation page for your year please contact Joe Rooney jrooney@clongowes.net or Antoinette Kelly antoinettekelly@clongowes.net. 045 838215.

The Alberto Hurtado Bursary Programme (AHP) at Clongowes aims to offer up to 7 bursary place each academic year.

It is inspired by the desire to remove barriers to the unique educational experience that a 7-day boarding school environment can offer.  There are currently more than 40 Bursary students attending Clongowes and the programme has become an integral part of the fabric of Clongowes life.

Such an ambitious project comes with commensurate costs, the cost for each Bursary students is 140k over 6 years.  The Foundation at Clongowes supports the AHP on an annual basis via donations from past pupils, parents and the Jesuit Community.
