Clongowes Wood College SJ

Since 1990 Clongowes has hosted a very special holiday in mid July for the special needs pupils of St. Mark’s and St. Anne’s school in the Curragh.  Along with KARE, Clongowes hosts a holiday with a difference.  This year the holiday ran from July 14th – 19th and was a terrific time for all.

Students from Poetry, [5th year] along with the girls from St. Wolstan’s, Celbridge ensure that the kids have a great time.  Whether it’s bowling, the Zoo, arts and crafts, Samba or visiting the Garda stables, the holiday is fun fun fun all the way.

Over 20 kids attended the holiday in brilliant sunshine, and at the end there were some very happy holidaymakers who drove down the avenue.  The holiday is a unique opportunity for our students to work with kids who have special needs on a one to one basis, 24 hours a day, and offers them a valuable insight into the needs of others.  The days are long but filled with fun and games, and the smiles on the faces of the helpers and the kids meant that everyone had a great time.

Here’s to the Clongowes Special Holiday 2014!
