The Rhetoric Parent Day will take place next Sunday (October 6th) as indicated on the school calendar. We are very pleased to announce that Dr. Gillian O’Brien, Director of Education and Training from Headstrong will be our guest speaker.
Headstrong is The National Centre for Youth Mental Health – a non-profit organisation supporting young people’s mental health in Ireland. At a time where there is an alarming rise of mental illness in young people in Ireland, Headstrong advocates at a national and local level for the right of young people to access better mental health supports, and for a change in the way Ireland thinks about youth mental health.
It is hoped that through the presentation given by Dr. O’Brien we can increase awareness around certain issues of mental health with a view to protecting our young men from suffering, illness and even death.
The day will begin at approximately 10.15 with Mass in the Sports Hall and will end about 13.30. A more specific itinerary is being sent to you today.
As this is the final Parent Day for Rhetoric parents, we hope that you can attend. If you have not yet done so, please RSVP to Liz Griffin at lgriffin@clongowes.net.
