Donnchadh Walsh (Rhetoric 2016) was awarded the Ad Astra Academic Scholarship at a ceremony held at the O’Reilly Hall, University College Dublin, on 2nd February 2017. This scholarship rewards highly motivated students who wish to be encouraged to maximise their potential. To qualify for the scholarship candidates must achieve 6 A1 grades in their Leaving Certificate Examinations. Scholars are then selected based on a personal statement and interview. Donnchadh (pictured above receiving the award from Professor Mark Rogers, Registrar and Deputy President of UCD), who is studying medicine, achieved the maximum possible points total of 625. Many congratulations to him and to all his teachers at Clongowes.
