Ever wondered what the ‘rogues’ did to warrant a place in the Serpentine Gallery? All is revealed in ‘Clongownians of Distinction: A Guide to the Serpentine Collection’. The publication was launched on Tuesday evening by one such ‘rogue’ Mr John Bruton OC’65. Written by historian Harman Murtagh OC’62, with the assistance of our college archivist, Ms Margaret Doyle, our rector Fr. Michael Sheil OC’56 and architect David K’Eogh OC’65, it is an insightful resource on the lives of old Clongownians who have excelled in their chosen fields and whose actions or leadership has benefited society.
No doubt the book and the inscription, kindly written by Harman Murtagh on the James Joyce Library’s copy of Clongownians of Distinction will inspire present and future students.
“I hope, dear reader, that you will join the rogues in the fullness of time!”
