CWC Catering Department Really is The Best!
“The CWC Catering Dept. has been awarded the EIQA ( Q Mark for Hygiene & Food Safety), Emerald Classification. This is the highest award possible and Clongowes is the first Irish college to be awarded the Q Mark!”
We earned the Sapphire award last year, similar to Newbridge College, Blackrock, Castleknock etc., but this year the CWC catering team was able to go one better!
It is unusual for a College to be awarded the highest category, so well done to Ann and her team for making the CWC catering department world class.
EIQA exists to facilitate and promote the use of innovative certification programmes. EIQA achieves results by using an experienced national panel of assessors and auditors and by providing independent professional recognition to best practice standards. They conduct over 3,000 audits on an annual basis nationally and internationally, and Clongowes is the first college to win such an award.
All this said, EIQA on confirmed what the lads and staff at CWC already knew, that Ann and her team are simply the best!
Elements Rugby Awards
“Tuesday, May 8th, saw the Elements Rugby awards take place. The awards are a small thank you to the boys for all their hard work throughout the year.”
Mr. Pat Kenny, Clongowes Gamesmaster, presented a number of awards. He thanked the boys for their efforts this year and said that he had great expectations for their futures. “Elements rugby is the building block of what we do here” he told the boys, “and I have no doubt that some of you will be challenging for Junior places next year”.
“I have been watching you throughout the year and I have been impressed with the constant improvement in your skills base. What I have been most impressed with, however, is the attitude you brought to your games. You played rugby with a smile on your faces and that, believe me, is the best possible way to play rugby. That is something you should be proud of”.
“You have been lucky to be in Clongowes at this time, a time when we have competed in the last three senior cup finals. It is up to you now to carry our proud traditions forward and be as good as you can be.”
Awards:
Player of the Year – Sean McCrohan, Danny Fitzpatrick
Clubman of the Year – Arthur Odlum, Rory McMahon
Most Improved - Reinis Lemess, Sean Ojejinmi, Freddie Stewart, St. John Hall, Lorcan Barrett
Top Try Scorer – Jesse Onyejekwe
King of the Set Piece – Cian Gahan
