The Future

As it stands today, the Clongowes plant is striking and harmonious. The overall sense of design is helped by the crenellations of the Castle being continued throughout other buildings. Despite its size, nearly all facilities are under a single roof. Throughout the plant there is a good sense of space.

Clongowes has a deserved reputation as a provider of top class educational and boarding facilities to enable it to fulfil its aim of building a living and learning community. Strategic Planning under the direction of the Board of Governors (now replaced by a Board of Management) has produced a coherent plan for the future which is currently being implemented.

Clongowes is committed to remaining as a seven-day boarding school for boys into the future. Extensive planning, based on sound pedagogical principles, is ongoing to ensure that the College remains one of Ireland’s leading schools. Having completed phase one of our plan in 1999, planning is well advanced to ensure that facilities, both educational and boarding, continue to be excellent. Improved academic facilities-- which include a new science block, Art facilities, specialist classrooms, an Academic Resource Centre (incorporating library, research, and peer-tutoring facilities), together with improved living accommodation, and enhanced facilities for visiting teams are among the projects planned.
