Clongowes operates a system of growth into privilege with regard to accommodation. In first and second year (the Third Line), boys may share rooms or have individual cubicles on a rotational basis. In third and fourth year (the Lower Line), they generally have their own cubicles. In fifth and sixth year (the Higher Line) each boy has his own study-bedroom.
